Touchnote April 2020 - Message to Members

09 Apr 2020

Dear Members

You are no doubt aware that our professional and personal lives are going through immense change at the moment and will continue to do so for many months to come.  You will have seen the nation coming together to show its gratitude for the work that is happening on the frontline and how much they value what we do.

We are sure that that you are both touched and grateful for their support.

One of the most profound changes has been our lack of face-to-face contact with patients, colleagues, students and family.  As human beings and musculoskeletal physiotherapists we have always valued this social interaction.  However things have changed radically in the last few weeks and we have shown that we can be adaptable and still communicate effectively with each other.  This is a credit to you and your efforts.
We have adapted our roles to work with our rehabilitation colleagues,  we have come out of retirement and we are ready to move from higher education to support clinical practice if we are called to do so.

We have just had our MACP Strategy Meeting weeks before COVID19 began to take hold.  In light of this we will be reviewing our shorter term objectives to see how the professional network can best respond in these challenging times.  We want you to know that members of the Executive Committee engage regularly with each other and other organisations like the CSP, ARMA and Health Education England and Versus Arthritis and we will be working together to represent our interest into an uncertain future.  We are also linking with other professional networks in supporting each other at this moment of need.

The hashtag #strongertogether and #imMACP never felt more relevant than it does now.
We hope this latest edition of Touchnote demonstrates to you the ongoing work we are doing to ensure you remain part of this great community of physiotherapists.
Thank you.

Matt Daly
Communications Lead on behalf of the MACP Committee
