Neil is a Consultant Physiotherapist and senior lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Winchester who has been a member of the MACP since 2001. He was worked in the NHS, M.O.D and private sector. After completing his MSc at the University of Brighton he went on to complete a clinical doctorate at the University of Southampton publishing his work in the Journal Musculoskeletal Science and Practice.

Neil has presented on musculoskeletal practice across countries around the world, whilst teaching extensively in the UK in numerous environments and on 5 courses that have a route to MACP membership. He has served on the MACP committees as Chair of the CEA, research officer and Vice chair and supported the scientific committee for content at PhysioUK. His clinical work has taken him into primary care and as a clinical lead for HEE he has driven the first-contact model whilst supporting the educational needs for this particular area of clinical work. He continues to lead a large group of AHPs and maintain a strong NHS clinical focus.

Neil rejoined the Executive Committee in February 2020 as a co-opted Education Lead and was elected by the Executive Committee in November 2022 as Chair.

David ALDERSON

David joined the Executive Committee in December 2019 a the Professional Engagement Officer and in 2022 became Treasurer.

David is an advanced practice physiotherapist working in a first contact practice role for a large GP group in York. He graduated as a Physiotherapist in 2009 and has worked in various MSK guises around Yorkshire over the last 6 years. He gained MACP membership as part of the advanced clinical practice MSc at Teesside University in 2018. He considers his MACP training to be the most challenging yet edifying experience of his Physiotherapy career so far.

David worked as a football coach in the UK and internationally prior to becoming a physiotherapist. Whilst his involvement in coaching has reduced over recent seasons, a deep interest in teaching and learning remains. Operating from full-time clinical roles, he has supported students extensively on clinical placement in out-patient departments and supported University selection through interviewing of prospective students onto Undergraduate programmes. He has become more involved in teaching at postgraduate level, incorporating minor injuries and musculoskeletal medicine for ACP programmes. A key part of his current role is supporting GPs, GP trainees, Advance Nurse Practitioners, Urgent Care Practitioners and Physicians Associates in their development in musculoskeletal medicine. MACP clinical reasoning principles are interwoven into this teaching and also into his clinical practice on a daily basis. Over the last 6 years, he has worked as a consultant to the Football Association, overseeing and developing a multi professional team of medical tutors delivering emergency first aid courses in the North East and Yorkshire.

Komal V Bhuchhada

Komal leads an NHS spinal specialist MSK service in Hampshire.  

She has a passion for education, teaching and clinical reasoning and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Birmingham. She has taken on many previous MACP students on placement. 

Komal had worked in the NHS, private sector and sports previously. Komal has been a member of the MACP since 2017 and has been a member of the PDC before being on the exc since 2022. 

When not at work Komal enjoys playing netball regularly.

Samantha Simmonds

Samantha is a consultant Physiotherapist for Dorset Health Care and leads their Spinal Triage and Treat service. Prior to this she was an advanced practitioner for University Hospitals Sussex, this was combined this with a leadership role in FCP for Sussex Community Foundation Trust.  

She graduated from University of Brighton in 2005, and after completing her band 5 rotations went on to specialise in MSK. She returned to the University of Brighton a few years later where she completed her MSc in NMS physiotherapy; gaining MACP membership.  

Samantha is passionate about clinical education and development, having been a member of the PDC committee for several years prior to joining the exec team, helping with the development and promotion of MACP courses. She is also involved in mentoring and examining MSc students on their route to MACP membership.

I currently work as an advanced practice physiotherapist at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust. I work in an integrated community musculoskeletal lower limb clinic. I am the lower limb pathway lead for the musculoskeletal service. I completed my MSc at the university of Hertfordshire in 2017. I was an associate member of the MACP throughout my course and became a full member in 2017. 

My current career interests are in lower quadrant musculoskeletal pathology. I am looking to expand my clinical skills by undertaking an introduction to ultrasound course this year. I am an alumni of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Leadership Development Programme, completed in 2020. I am an active leader of quality improvement projects, undertaken to promote patient self-management and improve self efficacy and population health, and have just worked on the redesign and launch of our new musculoskeletal physiotherapy website.

Outside of work I enjoy holidays, my garden and generally keeping busy, fit and active. I enjoy spending time with my family and my cat called Mouse!

Andrew Cuff

Andrew joined Connect Health in April 2017 as Clinical Lead for our Yorkshire integrated MSK services. An experienced Consultant MSK Physiotherapist, he subsequently progressed to Head of MSK, responsible for our FCP, Tier 1 and Tier 2 MSK Services. In May 2023, Andrew was promoted to Head of Clinical Strategy, joining the Senior Leadership Team.

Andrew has a reputation as an expert clinician and thought leader on an international scale. As an active researcher with many clinical papers in peer-reviewed journals, he is a regular speaker at worldwide conferences. Andrew has held Executive positions in several clinical organisations including EUSSER (Chair of Comms) and most recently the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (Chair of Education).

When not at work, Andrew continues to develop his leadership capabilities, holding a King’s Commission in The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and attempts to practice what he preaches around physical activity, as a very average runner and cricketer.

Andrew joined the MACP Executive Committee in November 2022 as the Education Lead and Chair of the Committee for Education and Approval after becoming an MACP member via the Accelerated Portfolio Route earlier in 2022.

Tim Noblet

Dr Tim Noblet is a Consultant Physiotherapist at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Hon. Associate Professor at St George's University of London, UK and Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia and adjunct professor of research at Western University Canada. He has published research investigating persistent and neuropathic pain, complexity in MSK conditions, non-medical prescribing, advanced and consultant practice, psychologically informed practice and rehabilitation. In collaboration with HEE and the MSK-Partnership UK he led the standards team for the FCP roadmap and MSK Advanced Practice Standards.

Tim has worked in the UK, NZ and Australia within complex rehabilitation, elite sport, tertiary pain management, orthopaedic, neurosciences/surgery, spinal and rheumatology clinics. Tim has a keen interest in the complexity of pain, sleep, wellbeing and human performance and has lectured both nationally and internationally about complexity, pain and spinal and musculoskeletal diagnosis, management and rehabilitation.

I am an ACP at Hampshire Hospitals NHS foundation trust where I am also the physiotherapy professional lead. Working in FCP, orthopaedic clinics and MSK outpatients. I have a particular interest in lower limb rehabilitation and particularly foot and ankle and tendon pathology

I qualified from Brunel university in 2002 and then completed an MSc leading to MACP membership in 2009. 

I see MACP membership as a standard of excellence in MSK Practice. 

I think the MACP has an important role in the maintaining of MSK standards in a rapidly changing healthcare system currently, With the ongoing evolution and embedding of FCP, ACP and consultant roles. 

I hope to be able to contribute to this and am excited to be joining the executive committee as Professional Network officer but also Equality, Diversity and Inclusion lead.

Darren is a full-time clinical specialist physiotherapist at University Hospital Southampton and has been an MACP member since 2014.  In that time, he has successfully mentored 7 MACP students on placement and thoroughly enjoys the rewarding experience of supporting the development of others.

As the new engagement lead, he will bring his experience in supporting colleagues to help support our fantastic regional reps to continue to raise the profile of the MACP and support members within their region.

Matt joined the Executive Committee in January 2022

Matt is a Consultant Physiotherapist at University Hospitals Dorset Foundation NHS Trust and is a visiting associate at the Orthopaedic Research Institute at Bournemouth University. He qualified from the University of Southampton and completed a Masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton.  He has lectured on subjects such as motor control, spinal manipulation and clinical reasoning skills. He has interests in compassionate person-centred care, the theory of causation within the healthcare setting, philosophy, reflective practice and critical thinking skills.

Lewis Rawson

Lewis has worked in the NHS and private sector and has over 15 years’ experience. During his time in private practice, he had the opportunity to work with some of the country’s leading MSK consultants. He has also worked as an extended scope practitioner at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, organising diagnostic tests and injection therapy.  He undertook his MSc in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire, which was the start of his MACP journey. He has experience of clinical practice and leadership, having led a county-wide MSK service, before moving into the National Head of Clinical Services role for Circle Integrated Care in 2021.

Lewis continues to work clinically and also works at the University of Hertfordshire as a visiting lecturer.

MSK and FCP Clinical Lead Physiotherapist

I qualified in 2007 with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from University of Southampton and completed junior rotations in the NHS in Sussex before moving into MSK in Hampshire in 2009.  Continued to work in NHS MSK services across Dorset and Hampshire whilst undertaking a PGDip in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton and becoming a member of the MACP in 2017. After successfully obtaining a place on NIHR funded Masters programme, I completed a Masters in Research (MRes) qualification in Clinical Research at the University of Brighton in 2018. I have worked as a spinal AP in NHS interface services since 2017 and worked in the Dorset Spinal pathway under Rheumatology services from 2020 to 2022.  I have been involved in First Contact Physiotherapy since 2018 and am currently working as clinical lead for Physiotherapy and First Contact Physiotherapy services at the AECC University College.  I have also taught and examined at the University of Southampton and the University of Winchester as a visiting lecturer.
