As healthcare services continue to align with national priorities to reduce over-reliance on medicines and support people to self-manage long-term conditions, it is vital that weunderstand the realities of prescribing and supporting patients with ongoing pain.
Chronic pain affects millions of people across the UK and is a major focus of health policy,with increasing emphasis on person-centred care, shared decision-making, supported self-management, and non-pharmacological approaches where appropriate.
We are conducting a study to explore the experiences and perspectives of healthcare professionals who prescribe pain-relieving medicines for people experiencing ongoing pain in muscles, bones, or joints.
