It is expected that over 1000 delegates will attend the conference in 2012, and that many of these will require accommodation for the event. Based on trends from previous events, steps are being taken to reserve 400 rooms in London. A wide variety of accommodation will be made available to delegates; from luxury hotels in the city centre for those looking to spoil themselves, to University accommodation for those on a tight budget to those taking advantage of the adopt-a-delegate scheme.
With the assistance of a leading agency, luxury accommodation in the centre of London has been identified and will be reserved to ensure availability once the bid winner has been announced.
Budget accommodation will be available in King's College London or Queen Mary College halls of residence. All rooms have en-suite facilities and some have shared use of cooking facilities. This accommodation will be competitively priced and is conveniently located for the conference facilities and central London. Stamford Hall, the King's residence, is located in SE1, across the river from Westminster and the conference centre. Queen Mary's halls of residence can be found in the East end of London near the venue for the London 2012 Olympics. No residence will be more than 40 minutes travel from the conference venue.
There are proposals for an adopt-a-delegate scheme, mimicking that proposed for the London 2012 Olympics and capitalising on the vast numbers of physiotherapists living and working in central London. London physiotherapists will sign up for the scheme and provide accommodation for visiting delegates hence building links and bridges that will benefit the profession even further.
