Outline of Programme Philosophy:
The principal aim is to provide master level education for Chartered Physiotherapists who will gain the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills required for working as advanced practitioners in Neuromusculo-skeletal Rehabilitation within the broad spectrum of Health and Society. The programme emphasises and facilitates the integration of evidence from a wide variety of sources using research focussed, expert led workshops and reflective learning tasks. This informs the clinical reasoning of the students and facilitates the development of advanced skills and expertise. The transference of knowledge into practice is facilitated during practical sessions in College and on clinical placement.

Mode of attendance
One Year full time From September to September
Two years part time generally requiring attendance two days per week

Teaching methods and assessment: Teaching and learning opportunities are provided through a combination of lecturer led sessions, seminars, practical problem workshops, tutorials, prosections, mentored clinical placements and self directed learning. These are assessed through written assignments, essays, written examinations, practical examinations and research project.

Outline of content:
- The programme consists of taught modules on the following topics: euromusculo-skeletal advanced physiotherapy skills including manual therapy, reactivation and rehabilitation.
- Clinical Education in Neuromusculo-skeletal Advanced Physiotherapy
- Muscle and exercise physiology,
- Neuroscience, Pain and Rehabilitation
- Biomechanics and Musculoskeletal tissues in health, injury and disease.
- Research project
Students on this programme share some studies with the MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy Sports Programme. This enables students to integrate theory and advanced practice across manual therapy, exercise therapy, reactivation, rehabilitation and some aspects of performance analysis.

Clinical Education and Practice Development:
Clinical placements, totalling seven weeks, are organised by the MACP using the network of clinical mentors. This network enables the students to access a wide variety of clinical settings and to study alongside students from different programmes. KCL visiting lecturers / tutors go to all the KCL student placements to ensure support for students and mentors.
The MACP arranges for University staff and clinical mentors to have regular joint study days to discuss contemporary issues in NMSK physiotherapy, health and education within the context of the changing patterns of healthcare delivery.

MACP membership
Students are eligible for Associate membership at the commencement of the course.
Membership of the MACP upon successful completion of the MSc.
